What is Terbisil Cream 1%?

Terbisil Cream 1% w/w is a prescription topical antifungal cream containing Terbinafine Hydrochloride 1%, manufactured by Saffron Pharmaceuticals. It is applied directly to the skin to treat fungal infections (فنگل انفیکشن) caused by dermatophytes and yeast organisms. Unlike oral antifungal tablets, Terbisil Cream delivers the active ingredient directly to the site of infection on the skin surface, providing targeted treatment with minimal systemic absorption. It relieves itching, burning, cracking, and scaling while actively killing the fungi responsible for the infection.

What is Terbisil Cream Used For?

Athlete's Foot (Tinea Pedis): Treats fungal infections of the feet causing itching, peeling, and cracking skin between the toes and on the sole. Jock Itch (Tinea Cruris): Clears fungal infections of the groin and inner thigh area causing redness and itching. Ringworm (Tinea Corporis): Treats circular, scaly, red rashes on the body caused by dermatophyte fungi. Cutaneous Candida: Effective against yeast infections of the skin surface caused by Candida species. Pityriasis Versicolor: Treats this superficial fungal infection that causes patchy discolouration of the skin.

How Does Terbisil Cream Work?

Terbinafine Hydrochloride inhibits the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which fungi require to produce ergosterol, an essential component of their cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane breaks down and the fungi die. This fungicidal action means Terbisil Cream actively kills the infection rather than simply slowing fungal growth, resulting in faster and more complete clearance of common skin fungal infections.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Terbisil Cream take to work?

Most patients notice improvement in itching and discomfort within a few days of starting treatment. Skin infections such as athlete's foot and ringworm typically clear within one to two weeks. Always complete the full course even if the skin looks better earlier to prevent the infection from returning.

Can Terbisil Cream be used instead of Terbisil 125mg tablets?

Terbisil Cream is suitable for surface skin infections. Terbisil 125mg tablets are required for deeper infections such as nail fungus or widespread skin infections that topical treatment cannot reach effectively. Your doctor will advise which form of treatment is most appropriate for your condition.
