Epival 250mg contains divalproex sodium — a medicine used to control seizures, stabilise mood in bipolar disorder, and reduce the frequency of migraines. It works by increasing the level of GABA (a calming chemical) in the brain — helping to reduce abnormal electrical activity and mood swings. Epival is a prescription-only medicine and must be taken exactly as directed by your doctor.
What is Epival 250mg Used For?
- Epilepsy (مرگی) — controls complex partial seizures, absence (petit mal) seizures, and mixed seizure types
- Bipolar Disorder — manages acute manic episodes (جوش اور بے قراری کی کیفیت) associated with bipolar disorder
- Migraine Prevention — reduces how often severe migraines occur
How Does It Work?
Divalproex sodium increases GABA activity in the brain — a chemical that calms overactive nerve signals. This helps stop seizures from starting, stabilises extreme mood episodes in bipolar disorder, and reduces the brain signals that trigger migraines.
Dosage
Epival tablets are usually taken twice daily with food. Swallow whole — do not crush or chew. Your doctor will set the right dose based on your condition, weight, and response to treatment. Never change your dose without consulting your doctor.
Important Warnings
- Not safe during pregnancy — can cause serious harm to the unborn baby
- Regular blood tests (liver function and platelet count) are needed during treatment
