What is Entamizole 250mg/200mg?
Entamizole is a prescription combination tablet containing Diloxanide Furoate 250mg and Metronidazole 200mg — two medicines that work together to treat parasitic and bacterial gut infections (آنتوں کے انفیکشن کا علاج). Metronidazole kills active parasites, while Diloxanide Furoate clears amoeba cysts from the intestine — treating the infection completely and reducing the risk of it coming back. A valid prescription is required before use.
What is Entamizole Used For?
- Intestinal Amoebiasis (پیچش) — gut infection caused by Entamoeba histolytica, causing diarrhoea, stomach pain, and blood in stools
- Amoebic Liver Abscess — spread of amoeba infection beyond the gut into the liver
- Giardiasis — small bowel infection by Giardia parasite causing bloating, loose stools, and cramps
- Chronic or Recurring Amoebiasis — long-standing infection requiring combined treatment to clear completely
How Does Entamizole Work?
Metronidazole damages the DNA of parasites and bacteria — stopping their growth and killing them. It works both inside the gut and in body tissues such as the liver.
Diloxanide Furoate targets amoeba cysts living inside the intestine — the dormant form of the parasite responsible for recurring infection. Together, both ingredients provide complete and lasting treatment.
Dosage and Administration

Always take with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course even if you feel better — stopping early allows the infection to return.
Side Effects
Common: Metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, mild dizziness, headache.
Serious — stop and consult your doctor immediately if you notice: Seizures (fits), severe skin rash, numbness or tingling in hands or feet, dark brown urine, or swelling of the face or throat.
Important: Do not drink alcohol during treatment or for at least 48 hours after finishing — this causes severe nausea and vomiting.
Who Should NOT Use Entamizole?
- First trimester of pregnancy (first 3 months)
- Known allergy to Metronidazole, Diloxanide Furoate, or similar medicines
- Severe liver disease
- Children — only under doctor supervision with correct weight-based dosing

- Store below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture
