What is Empaa 25mg?

Empaa 25mg is a prescription tablet containing Empagliflozin 25mg, a higher-strength SGLT2 inhibitor used to control blood sugar levels (خون میں شوگر کی سطح) in adults with type 2 diabetes alongside diet and exercise. It works directly in the kidneys by blocking the SGLT2 protein, preventing glucose from being reabsorbed back into the bloodstream and removing it from the body through urine. Compared to Empaa 10mg, this higher strength provides greater glucose-lowering effect for patients who need stronger glycaemic control. It also delivers proven cardiovascular protection in adults with established heart disease.

What is Empaa 25mg Used For?

Type 2 Diabetes Control: Lowers high blood sugar in adults either alone or in combination with other diabetes medicines including insulin and Metformin. Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established heart or blood vessel disease. Heart Failure Management: Lowers the risk of hospitalisation and cardiovascular death in patients with chronic heart failure.

How Does Empaa 25mg Work?

Empagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, which is responsible for reabsorbing approximately 90% of filtered glucose back into the bloodstream. By inhibiting this protein, Empaa 25mg allows excess glucose to pass out of the body through urine, lowering blood sugar levels independently of insulin. The higher 25mg dose provides stronger SGLT2 inhibition compared to the 10mg strength, making it suitable for patients requiring greater glycaemic control. The same mechanism also lowers blood pressure, reduces body weight, and decreases fluid overload, which contributes to its cardiovascular benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Empaa 25mg different from Empaa 10mg?

Both tablets contain Empagliflozin and work through the same mechanism. Empaa 25mg contains a higher dose and provides stronger blood sugar lowering for patients who do not achieve adequate control on the 10mg strength. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose based on your blood sugar levels and kidney function.

Can Empaa 25mg cause low blood sugar on its own?

Empaa 25mg has a low risk of causing hypoglycaemia when used alone because it works independently of insulin. The risk increases when combined with insulin or sulphonylureas. Always monitor blood sugar regularly as advised by your doctor.
