What is Crafilm Chewable Tablets?
Crafilm Chewable Tablet is a prescription gastrointestinal protective tablet containing Sucralfate 250mg and Calcium Carbonate 100mg per tablet. It is used to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers, heartburn, GERD, hyperacidity, and bloating (معدے کے السر، جلن، اور تیزابیت). Sucralfate forms a protective physical barrier directly over the ulcer site, shielding it from stomach acid and digestive enzymes to allow healing. Calcium Carbonate neutralises excess stomach acid quickly to provide fast relief from heartburn and acidity. The chewable format allows the medicine to work directly in the stomach without needing to be swallowed whole.
What is Crafilm Used For?
Peptic and Duodenal Ulcers: Forms a protective barrier over ulcer sites to prevent further acid damage and support natural healing. Heartburn and GERD: Reduces burning discomfort in the chest and throat caused by acid reflux into the oesophagus. Hyperacidity and Dyspepsia: Neutralises excess stomach acid and relieves indigestion, upper stomach discomfort, and nausea. Bloating and Flatulence: Helps relieve gas-related distension and abdominal discomfort associated with excess acid and dyspepsia.
How Does Crafilm Work?
Sucralfate reacts with stomach acid to form a thick, paste-like substance that binds selectively to the surface of ulcers and damaged stomach lining. This adhesive barrier protects the ulcer from further attack by acid, pepsin, and bile, creating a healing environment. Calcium Carbonate is a fast-acting antacid that directly neutralises excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach, raising the pH and providing rapid relief from burning and acidity. The combination of a mucosal protectant and a fast antacid in a single chewable tablet addresses both the underlying ulcer and the immediate symptom of acid discomfort.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I take Crafilm before or after meals?
Crafilm Chewable Tablets are most effective when taken on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime. Taking Sucralfate before eating allows it to bind to the ulcer surface before food and acid enter the stomach, giving the protective barrier time to form properly.
Can I take other medicines at the same time as Crafilm?
Sucralfate can reduce the absorption of certain medicines including antibiotics, digoxin, and thyroid medicines. Always take other medicines at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after Crafilm. Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines you are currently using.
