What is Combivair 200 Rotacap?

Combivair 200 Rotacap is a combination inhaler medicine containing Budesonide 200mcg and Formoterol 6mcg. These two medicines work together to keep the airways open and reduce swelling inside the lungs. It is used every day for the regular management of asthma (دمہ) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease — COPD (پھیپھڑوں کی دائمی بیماری). It is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used for sudden breathlessness attacks.

What is Combivair 200 Rotacap Used For?

  • Asthma — regular daily control of asthma symptoms in adults and children above 6 years (دمہ)
  • COPD — symptomatic treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease including chronic bronchitis and emphysema (سانس کی نالیوں کی بیماری)

How Does Combivair 200 Rotacap Work?

Budesonide is a corticosteroid — it reduces swelling and irritation inside the airways, making them less sensitive to triggers like dust and smoke. Formoterol is a long-acting beta-2 agonist (LABA) — it relaxes the muscles around the airways and keeps them open for up to 12 hours. Together, they target both inflammation and tightness — giving better control than either medicine alone.

⚠️ Always use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Never use as a rescue inhaler. Always rinse your mouth with water after each use.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Can I use Combivair 200 Rotacap during a sudden asthma attack? No — Combivair is a maintenance inhaler, not a rescue inhaler. Always keep a separate fast-acting reliever inhaler (like Salbutamol) for sudden attacks.

Q: Why must I rinse my mouth after using Combivair? The Budesonide in Combivair can cause oral thrush (fungal infection in the mouth) if it stays in the throat — rinsing with water and spitting removes residue and prevents this.

Q: Can Combivair 200 Rotacap be used in children? It may be used in children aged 6 years and above under a doctor's supervision. It is not approved for children under 6 years.

Q: What happens if I miss a dose of Combivair? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember — but if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip it and continue as normal. Never double the dose.
