What is Calamox 375mg?

Calamox 375mg is a prescription combination antibiotic tablet containing Amoxicillin 250mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg, used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections (بیکٹیریل انفیکشن) of the respiratory tract, ears, sinuses, skin, urinary tract, and teeth. It is the standard-strength formulation in the Calamox range, suitable for mild to moderate bacterial infections in adults and children. Amoxicillin kills susceptible bacteria by disrupting their cell wall formation. Clavulanic Acid protects Amoxicillin from being destroyed by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, broadening its effectiveness against a wider range of organisms.

What is Calamox 375mg Used For?

Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats bronchitis, pneumonia, and bacterial chest infections caused by susceptible organisms. Ear, Nose, and Throat Infections: Manages sinusitis, tonsillitis, and otitis media caused by bacteria. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Treats cellulitis and skin abscesses caused by susceptible bacteria. Urinary Tract Infections: Manages cystitis and other UTIs caused by susceptible gram-negative organisms. Dental Infections: Treats bacterial infections of the teeth and gums.

How Does Calamox 375mg Work?

Amoxicillin binds to penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall, preventing bacteria from completing cell wall synthesis. Without an intact cell wall, bacteria cannot survive or multiply. Clavulanic Acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes that resistant bacteria produce to destroy Amoxicillin, protecting it from degradation and allowing it to work effectively against a broader range of resistant bacterial strains.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Calamox 375mg different from Calamox 1g?

Calamox 375mg contains a lower dose of Amoxicillin (250mg) and is prescribed for mild to moderate infections. Your doctor will prescribe the most appropriate strength based on the type and severity of your infection.

Should I take Calamox 375mg with food?

Yes. Always take Calamox 375mg at the start of a meal. Food reduces the risk of nausea and stomach discomfort and also improves the absorption of Clavulanic Acid into the bloodstream.
